Paving at the BullRing will improve competition

Perry NY, The 50-year-old asphalt is getting a face lift in the corners… removing much of the quilted patch work, and creating a smooth, fast racing surface. Scheduled for the end of May, Chris Finocchario (Modified Team Owner) of Charlie’s Paving will provide the service.

With the preparation of paving and the stress of insufficient racing tire quantities, WCIS Management has decided to postpone Opening Day till after the curing time of the new asphalt. This would push the Speed77 lap SST Modified opener to Mid-June TBD. Dave Russell’s speed shop in Corfu NY has been a big part of supplying race components to regional teams, along with the official location to purchase the mandatory WCIS MyLaps TR2 transponder. The Opening day, $1200. to win SST event will be well anticipated by the time the new racing surface is ready to go!

The improved surface will open up opportunities for more special events. The Latemodels have been away for a while and Interest to adding a late season event is in the works. The TQ Midgets of the region have been a big influence on the repair and their desire to return racing at the 1/3rd mile oval. Jimmy Smith, Jim Fleischman and the new TQ Management team see Perry as the perfect size for fast, competitive racing. We look forward to welcoming them all back to BullRing competition.

Practice will continue on Saturdays for a few weeks more until the construction begins. This will allow teams to shake out the bugs and dial in their machines. Those looking to get seat time, prior to heavy competition can make the best of this delay. After the asphalt cure time is complete, teams will be invited to return again and begin putting rubber back onto the surface during the pre-season practices.
